Confession #2:  I’m starting to find to terms with my break up from Dunkin Donuts. He’ll always have a special location in my heart, however I believe it’s time for me to relocation on to much more steady connections (like with Coffee Bean because it’s best next door to my work).

My marathon is 12 days away, this indicates by now I’m deep into the taper part of training. This weekend I ran 12 miles as well as Saturday I’ll run 8 for my last long run of the plan. I’m likewise running less mid-week.

Early this morning I woke up and did my pre-race thing – clothes, bathroom, food. Then, I woke up Ben and Matt (my lil’ bro who’s staying with me this weekend) and we headed to long Beach.

They dropped me off near the start and went to go have breakfast. I went to the porta potties and then to run 26.2 miles. <- one of these options is a lot more attractive and it’s not what I did. Si Se Puede! sub 4 hour Marathon goal – Race Recap I started off way too fast (like always!!!) and really really tried to slow myself down. I even used my whole name to scold myself in my inner dialogue. I kept looking at my Garmin and trying to get it to around my goal pace of 8:59, but had a hard time. The boys met me at mile 12 where it loops around. I planned on handing Ben my water bottle for a refill and coming back around for it. When I saw Ben I was still booking it and he said I was in front of the 3:45 pacer. <- If you’re a runner you might realize this is a huge mistake. Going out too fast never banks time it only shreds your legs and ends in regret (at least for me). I planned on taking a gel every 5 miles, but the warm day and chocolate flavored gels stored against my sweaty body made for gross mouthfuls. Plus, I normally take gels every 6 miles in training so this difference made me feel bloated and nauseas. But, my big butt kept going. (Thanks for that shot Ben, I appreciate having to look at it as much as the people behind me in the race did. No wonder I kept getting passed…) I held a sub 9 minute per mile pace easily until mile 17. Then, I slammed into THE WALL. Hard. I knew about the hill around mile 17. This is where I fell apart last year.  mentally and physically I couldn’t keep pushing. And it happened again. I went from 8:45 minute/miles to 10:30s and couldn’t get it back. The nausea didn’t go away so I started to worry that I was over-hydrated or under fueled or slowly dying a torturous death in front of thousands of people. one of those. My knees started to hurt and I got that same weird pain I got last year. It was a Charlie horse right above the knee, but it’s only happened before in a race?! I walked up a hill at Mile 22 and that was a bad choice. My Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Bélgica knees locked up even more and started to cramp to the point I thought they must be bulging out of my skin. I stopped at the medical tent to get sprayed with some pain relief stuff and tried to run again.

I tossed my water bottle on the side of the road at Mile 23 and pumped my arms so my legs would keep going. thank God they did. I decided to run it in and try to keep it below 10 minute miles.

I had my Garmin on the pace screen and refused to change it to the elapsed time. I knew that if I confirmed I wasn’t going to sub-4 I’d just stop and walk it in. I decided that either way I was going to try and keep running so I kept going without any idea if I was going to make goal.

Ben saw me at Mile 26 and got a few pictures. I did not see or hear them. I’m pretty sure I was seeing things a la the movie Gladiator when he’s dying and seeing flashes of his family in Heaven.

Marathon Race Results

I ran it in past the finish line. Then, I stopped my Garmin and switched it to the total time screen – 3:59:54!!!!! I did it! I seriously didn’t know until that second!

I stumbled to find Ben and check my time on the computers to make sure it was real. I felt like absolute crap so I need to apologize to the 2 readers who spotted me past the finish line – sorry if I just kinda nodded like a zombie.

We headed straight for the car because I needed to sit! I was still nauseous and couldn’t drink or eat anything (that’s how you know something is wrong with me).

We went to my mom’s and I did an “ice bath” in the pool. I put my head down with my legs in the water and Ben brought me some chocolate coconut water from the finish line. I feel like death.

I’m holding a peace sign, not the middle finger…Last year my rib cage hurt the rest of the day and I figured it was Camiseta Corinthians Paulista from bad form and a weak core, but I worked on my core more this year and it still hurts to take a deep breath. Boo.

Post-pool dip I took a shower and Ben picked up lunch. I didn’t say I wanted anything, but he knows what I like and brought onion rings and a tuna salad. God Bless that man.

He’s now sleeping off the day while I blog <3 I’m alive. I ran a marathon in under 4 hours. I am happy and proud. But, a few days ago I was considering running the RnR AZ marathon in January and now I’m thinking I do not want to run another marathon. Ever. Congratulations to everyone who ran this weekend!Running is hard! Be proud of yourself no matter what. Deep Fried Watermelon at the LA county fair

Yes. I had deep fried Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Dinamarca watermelon today! I have so much to say about this because I love watermelon and I love fried food and I love food on a stick… but do I love fried watermelon on a stick?? I needed to find out. but first… let’s run through the other pictures from the LA county Fair.

I go to the fair for the food. apparently there are rides and exhibits with awesome crafts and art and recipes that have won blue ribbons. but again – fair food is fun fried food. and I’m all about it!

Luckily I went to the LA county fair (that’s actually in Pomona so I used to call it the Pomona fair as a kid) with my family. and my lil brother is fun to eat with because he rolls with whatever I order and we can share a ton of different things. Boom!

I finally got the cheese on a stick I’ve been randomly craving!

We shared…

a turkey leg, cheese on a stick (pepper jack), nachos, Dole whip, burrito bowl, deep fried watermelon, funnel cake

It was the last day of the fair so it was extra busy! Every food Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Suiza booth and all the rides had long lines.

I didn’t take the Funnel Cake Challenge… but I kinda wish I would have!

This booth brings back memories of epic fried foods I’ve tried in the past…

And I spotted a super hero at the fair! Love.

Okay… Let’s talk about deep fried watermelon!

You can see it was a big wedge of watermelon. It’s lightly battered and fried. Then, it’s topped with syrup and a light dusting of powdered sugar. and it’s served on a stick.

When the girl at the booth handed it to me she advised that I should go grab some napkins because it can be a little juicy and messy.

As I was taking a picture and eating it a lot of people passing by commented on it…

“Is that watermelon?”  … “Fried watermelon!”  … “Is it good?”

1000% watermelon is my favorite food. (Unless you’re new to Run eat Repeat – you probably are super well aware!)
I’m usually a watermelon purist and don’t like it in recipes or cooked. So I figured I wouldn’t really love fried watermelon
But I felt morally obligated to try it so I could report back to you. (Tough job but somebody’s gotta do it.)

Presentation was awesome. ✔ ‎ ‎The batter was thin, not overpowering. ✔ ‎ ‎Watermelon was sweet but it was weird that it was warm. ✔ ‎
It was a fun thing to try, but I wouldn’t get it again. ✔

Fun Flashback: When I was about 4 years old my ballet class did a dance choreographed with our favorite doll.  I don’t remember watching the show, but I did love the Rainbow bright doll I got at some point. Who Am I (Not a publish on the meaning of Life)

I am not somebody who takes naps or gets sick, so this whole feeling off thing is truly starting to get on my nerves. I don’t have to get into work today up until 2pm (I stay late tonight though) so mid-morning when I contemplated taking a nap I questioned myself, “Who am I right now?!”

I’ve heard pregnancy makes you super tired as well as I hate being tired (you’ll notice ‘get 8 hours of sleep’ is a typical Monday Mini-Goal). So, that’s going to suck, however I digress.

Now I can’t stop saying, “Nice Hustle Grandma!”

I walked to work yesterday afternoon as well as got house just before 8pm HUNGRY. I made the greatest salad for dinner… veggies, veggie burger, chickpeas, peanut dressing, Kashi crackers, half a bagel.

and the garden lites Butternut Squash Souffle for “dessert”. I liked it! Ben did not. perhaps it’s since I’ve been laying off the sweets, however I believed it was delicious.

This morning I did level 1 of Jillian’s RIPPED in 30. level 1 isn’t much of a challenge, however I want to do each level 5 times before moving on.  I liked that it was quite short – I get tired fast.

I used my new Target clearance rack storage tank top – it looks a bit messy. Not a fan.

Breakfast was a bagel with PB&J on one side, chuckling Cow&J on the other. plus a ordinary omelet.
