HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT– The Marathon to end All

This morning I hit up the gym for strength training, but didn’t do any cardio. So, I took a walk on my lunch break. I need a walk a day to help keep me from having an anxiety attack and it was nice.

On my long run this weekend I ran to whole Foods and the organic kale was on sale. I love kale, but mostly only eat it as kale chips. But, roasting the hell out of such a healthy veggie and then drowning it in ketchup didn’t seem best this time.

Tuesday night I made a massaged kale salad with my own dressing. That is pretty fancy for me! I even washed the kale! <- I know, who am I?! Cochina. Anyways, one bunch of kale made a huge bowl of greens and I dressed it with: 1 Tb. Olive oil, 2 Tb. maple syrup, 2 Tb. OJ and salt. I added a handful of raisins and peanuts to complete the salad and it was delicious! We had it with these chicken kabobs I got from Costco. They are perfectly spicy and delicious. I recently created my #FitnessBucketList on Pinterest  I’m not done with it yet, but here’s what I have so far… 1. complete a triathlon 2. Climb half Dome – DONE. actually I already did this, but half Dome, along with running a marathon, were my 2 original goals I’ve had for years and years! So I wanted to make sure I gave myself credit report for that. 3. another epic hike. I think I might want to do the Grand Canyon…? 4. Run in every state. This is going to take a long time! 5. Run the nyc Marathon. After the long beach marathon I was ready to hang up my marathon shoes. Then, I chose I wanted to do one much more mary first. But which marathon would be a good finale?! Well, I’ve heard for years that the crowds and experience of running new York is unlike any other Camiseta Leeds United race I’d ever do. Also, according to the marathon machine, skinny Runner, the best marathon is The ING new York City Marathon.

So, run the new York City Marathon was on my fitness bucket List. I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to actually do it though because NY is really hard to get into and the race plus travel would cost a lot!(source)

Well a few weeks ago I got an email with the subject line…

“NY Marathon web series Casting”

Um, okay. I thought this is Camiseta Real Sociedad a total scam but I’ll check it out.

Turns out the ING new York city marathon is putting together a web series featuring all different kinds of runners. The webisodes will share stories and suggestions from a few people running new York.

Well, I was picked. I am going to run the new York City Marathon in November!!! AHHHH! This is beyond a huge deal. When I got the email that I was chosen I read it 3 times and then called Ben at work and read it to him to be sure. (source)

Yes. I don’t know who or why or how they picked me, but they did.

So, I am going to new York on Sunday to film some of the webisodes. My series will be about FOOD. Of course

I had a call with the producers today and it sounds like what I’ll be doing is very exciting and fun!

I’ll be filming in new York Monday and Tuesday and will be back home Wednesday and back to “real life”.

My head is spinning over all of this. I know I don’t are worthy of all these awesome things that happen to me because of RER, but I’m accepting my blessings with the grace of an adult and burying the worry and doubt deep down where I can’t find it.

Details about my webisodes will come as I get it. Oh, and I’ll post about training for the mary as soon as I figure that out! (Yes, I just realized I have to actually run 26 miles and it’s not all fun and games. I asked and Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Túnez they won’t let me take a cab to the finish…)

Boxing Canada Warns athletes of Perils of rapid extreme Weight cutting

A useful powerpoint presentation created by Dr. Kien Camiseta Olympique Marseille Trinh was recently published by Boxing Canada warning athletes about the perils of rapid extreme Weight cut practices.

The presentation is user-friendly and worth reading in full.  Titled “Making Weight in Boxing – Camiseta Rangers FC how to do it Better“, it can be found here.

Breakfast for Lunch

This isn’t “Brunch” because I feel like brunch happens when you have a late breakfast/early lunch. But, I had my typical breakfast and then wanted eggs for lunch.

No surprise that it’s served with an avocado ? I hate being so predictable, but I love eating these!

This afternoon I purchased a new granola and had to try it best away. This is a file photo because I was too busy eating to take a pic.  

Dinner was take out. After Ben got home Camiseta Chelsea FC we walked the perros and by the time we thought about dinner it Camiseta SSC Napoli was 8pm! I chose an old favorite – Cheese Quesadilla. I really just got it for nostalgia. This was always my purchase from a local burger place when we were kids.

My purchase at Taco Bell was a Bean & Cheese burrito and an purchase of Pintos & Cheese. I think it says something that I naturally didn’t purchase things with meat in them, but it wasn’t an ethical or nutritional choice, just my taste preference.

 Healthy shopping – yesterday at Costco the lady behind me said, “You eat healthy!” when she saw my food loot. Then, she went on to ask specifics about my mushrooms and other eats.

I love talking food with anyone, so I chatted away of course ? But, it kinda made me feel strange that someone judges me (good or bad) based on my food choices. That doesn’t make any sense because I put Camiseta OGC Nice my entire life and food choices on display here, but I guess I think of it differently?

2016 Mr. Olympia Review; From Washboard To washed Out

After watching the 2016 Mr. Olympia in its entirety, then watching it once more in its entirety, the age old term of “washboard abs” came to my mind. This term did not pop into my head since I was staring at so many sets of great abs, however rather Camiseta Brighton & Hove Albion FC due to the irony of how many of the best physiques on earth had washed out abs as opposed to washboard abs. There were nineteen guys at this year’s Mr. Olympia, half of which showed up at the biggest bodybuilding show in the entire world with washed out midsections. even top names like Shawn Rhoden, Roelly Winklaar, Dexter Jackson, Justin Compton, as well as Dallas McCarver displayed midsections almost entirely void of meaning at one point or one more during the show.

Even five time 212 champ flex Lewis’ abs were not exactly super defined. There was a time when ab meaning was the pinnacle of conditioning as well as every bodybuilder relentlessly worked towards accomplish ripped abs. Nowadays the bodybuilders are more interested in having a ripped ass as well as seem to give no credence at all to their abs. I do not know what is causing this unfortunate trend, however it needs to stop. good luck making our sport more popular when our top athletes are trading ripped abs for ripped butt cheeks as well as being rewarded for it.

Flex Lewis is a prime example of this phenomenon. The guy has the hardest glutes in the entire show which causes everyone to rave about his dominance as well as how “on” he is, as they totally ignore his distended midsection, total lack of detail in his upper body from the front, as well as his reluctance to hit a side triceps pose. I hate to be negative however I really think people are grasping at straws when they say that everyone at this years show was in shape or that flex Lewis is super dominant as well as amazing. Shawn Rhoden was a fairly far-off 2nd as well as at over forty years old is not getting any type of younger. The young phenoms Justin Compton as well as Dallas McCarver both fell victim to the aforementioned washed out midsection phenomenon, causing them to look slightly disappointing. the best young blood of them all was Nathan De Asha, who mysteriously placed worse than both of the other young guns. Kevin proceeded to out class both Josh Lenartowicz as well as Cedric McMillan from the front in spite of having zero tan. To see so many people speaking negatively about Kevin’s comeback after the show is a clear representation of how little most of the people watching know about the sport of bodybuilding. Kevin was potentially the greatest 52 year old bodybuilder in the history of the entire sport on those nights as well as people are saying they were “disappointed”. give me a break. When Kevin hit his side breast standing between Phil Heath as well as Dexter Jackson he literally held his own. He looked like he absolutely belonged up there standing between the top two guys on the planet in that particular shot. A situation can easily be made for him defeating several bodybuilders on that stage at 52 years old after not competing for thirteen years as well as only training six months. any type of person who is “disappointed” with a 52 year old who is thirteen years removed from the stage beating Olympia caliber bodybuilders after six months of training should quit watching bodybuilding all together right now as well as go get their head examined. I was extremely impressed with what Kevin brought to the stage as well as I think he represented himself as well as the sport of bodybuilding exceedingly well.

While the 2016 Mr. Olympia was not the blockbuster event we all expected it to be, it was a pretty good show all things considered. Phil was great, Shawn was good, Ramy was great, Bonac was great, as well as Nathan showed some very serious promise. In the 212 class we had the emergence of a brand new superstar in the form of Ahmad Ashkanani, who I think might topple flex from his throne as early as next year. My prediction for next year? Phil fails to reach his best once once again however wins his seventh title nonetheless, Ramy places a questionable 2nd, Shawn looks just about the same putting him in 3rd, while Dexter falls out of the top three, possibly much lower than third, as well as decides to retire. The real question we are left with after this year’s Olympia is just how many Sandows can Phil Heath win? two years back you would be hard pressed to find any type of person who believed Phil would break the all time record of eight titles. However, as I sit here today, Phil winning a record nine Sandows not only seems possible, however fairly likely. We are officially in the era of The Gift.

$20,000 damages suggested For Piracy of UFC 175

update January 12, 2016 – this week Magistrate judge Delaney vacated the below default Camiseta Fluminense judgement.

Reasons for judgement were recently published by the us district Court, ED California, suggesting damages of $20,000 following the commercial piracy of UFC 175.

In the recent case (Joe Hand Promotions Inc. v. Toto) the defendant operated a sports bar and displayed UFC 175 without paying the commercial sub licencing fee.  During the event a private investigator attended the bar and counted between 38-41 patrons.

The Plaintiff sued and obtained default judgement.  Magistrate judge Delaney rejected the Plaintiff’s request for maximum statutory damages of $110,000 but did suggest to the assigned district judge that $20,000 in damages ought to be awarded.  In reaching this conclusion judge Delaney offered the following reasons:

After identifying that entry of default judgment is required the court should next identify the terms of the judgment. By its motion for default judgment, plaintiff seeks a judgment in the total amount of $110,950.00. Upon consideration of all of plaintiff’s briefing, the undersigned will recommend that damages be awarded in the amount of $20,000.

Animal study finds Microscopic brain changes After only 10 repeated Subconcussive impacts

A recent study was published looking into whether brain changes were obvious after only a handful of repeated subconcussive impacts finding the answer is yes.

In the recent study, titled Repetitive sub-concussive impacts induce inflammation implications for innocuous head impacts in sports, the authors conducted a series of experiments on rats. They created a device to cause sub Camiseta SL Benfica concussive impacts. In one group of rats no impacts were received. In a second group only one impact was received. SC or RSC impacts consisted of dropping a 50-gram brass weight from a height of 40 cm onto a metal disc (helmet) taped to the scalp. The animals were sacrificed 7 days post-impact, and their brains were perfused with 4% paraformaldehyde. representative sections encompassing the hippocampus were processed by immunohistochemistry for assessing microglial and astrocytic proliferation changes using IBA (Ionized Calcium-binding Adaptor molecule) as the marker. four sections from each brain 500 microns apart were taken from the left and ideal sides of each section encompassing the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Our results support that RSC induced a significant increase in microglial proliferation compared to SC and sham animal groups (p< 0.05). The full study can be found here. Why I Ate Raw chicken

I am really the worst today. I think it’s because today is a rest day from running so I didn’t get to run the weirdo out of me this morning. I did a quick 30 minute lower body workout and then made breakfast. and that’s when my first fail of the day happened …

I tossed out my toaster a while back because I figured I could use the broiler in the oven to toast stuff. This has worked okay in the past. It’s not always terrific because it goes from cold to burnt to a crisp if you’re not standing right there checking it the whole time.

I don’t mind burnt toast, but this was completely charred. Boo.

Where do you go when you burn the last roll? In the closet to hide (or still eat it in the privacy of your room).

Not really, I made something else and tried to give this to the cat. Oddly, he didn’t want my super burnt bread. Shocker.

The rest of the day was productive. I got a ton of work done, ran a few errands and even got vegas this box (from Costco).

By this time it was about 4pm, too early for dinner but I was HUNGRY. I snacked on some sugar snap peas with hummus but knew I wanted something more substantial. I put a frozen chicken nugget in the microwave for a minute, squirted ketchup on it and devoured. The inside was a little cold in the middle, but yeah that happens. Don’t you hate when the outside of your food is super hot but the inside is still frozen?!

I ate a few more bites of it cold but  decided to put the rest back in the microwave. That’s when I realized the middle was not only cold but also completely pink. It was RAW. The chicken was raw!

I thought it was weird, but maybe just processed chicken and maybe just dark meat?

 

Meh. I didn’t think it was that big a deal until I took a second look and confirmed it was completely raw chicken. The frozen chicken nuggets are not cooked and need to be baked.

I took the package out of the freezer and realized – yep, I made a substantial stupid mistake. It’s totally my fault, but I just assumed they were microwaveable pre-cooked nuggets. way to go Monican.

So now I am freaking out because I ate raw chicken and I might get salmonella and super sick and die. I might be up all night with the runs (not the marathon kind). I might turn into a salmon and wake up tomorrow with fins (I think that’s what happens when you get salmonella).

I am so mad at myself for being so dumb. I could really get sick. now I wait for the rumble and see what happens….
